Longtime Nockamixon residents William and Helen Nast recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. They were married on September 27, 1952, by the late Rev. Paul Sheffer at Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church in Tinicum, and were honored by friends and family with a celebration at Leithsville Social Hall in Hellertown. The Nasts have two daughters, Rebecca Lee and Kate Dorothy, a son, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Donna. Mr. Nast is retired from Penn Engineering and Manufacturing in Danboro, and the former Helen Lines is a homemaker. We wish them continued health and happiness. New neighbor Cycle Asylum has moved into its renovated headquarters on Route 611 in Ottsville next to Wehrung Tire, where they rent space to perform motorcycle maintenance and customization. The new motorcycle sales and service emporium has something for everyone, according to owners John and Lisa Carbine. They, along with staffers Hans and Jim, offer a full line of accessories and apparel for bikers and truckers. John and Lisa, who call themselves the hardcore inmates of the shop, decided to locate in Ottsville after realizing the popularity of our area with motorcyclists of all stripes. We believe in honest work, fantastic customer service, and were not manufacturer-prejudiced, says John. We support bikers on any model machine, and welcome their business.

Cycle Asylum has already shown it neighborliness with last falls free refreshment pitstop for bikers along Rt. 611, which theyll likely reprise as this years biking season gets into full swing. Another terrific event theyre sponsoring to help improve our community is their current Road Rider Raffle to benefit the Upper Bucks Regional EMS, those brave first responders we all depend on in an emergency. For just $20 per ticket, you buy a chance to win a brand new 2002 Confederate Hellcat motorcycle. Black with chrome accessories and a suggested retail value of about $34,000, Cycle World magazine called this bike the Lamborghini of motorcycles. So if you love beautiful bikes or know someone who does, get over to Cycle Asylum and say hi to our new neighbors. And while youre at it, buy a ticket or two for their raffle. Happily, someone always wins: you may get an incredible bike for a pittance, and our hardworking EMS crew gets some well-deserved support. Dont forget to send me notices of your own special occasions, so I can share them with our Nockamixon neighbors.
