I’ve lived in Ferndale for several years, and I write this monthly column, covering goings-on in Nockamixon Township. Not quite a news feature, but more reliable and friendly than a gossip column, Nockamixon Notes shares the smaller, folksy happenings that don’t make headlines but still hold interest for township residents. Think of it as a kind of over-the-back-fence, neighborly chat.

Are you planning a family reunion, neighborhood barbecue or block party? Is a long-absent relative returning for a visit? Maybe celebrating a hard-won promotion, graduation, anniversary or milestone birthday? How about a church baptism, first communion, confirmation or wedding? have you recently gotten a new pet, or lost one? Are you renovating your home, putting in a swimming pool or building a barn? Or perhaps you’re involved in some community service or volunteer work.

You can send in news about most of these special occasions to the Herald’s Community News and Announcements section, before the actual event. But if you have an especially humorous, surprising or touching situation happen during your event, or you just have a funny neighbor story or interesting anecdote to relate, that’s what we’d like to share with our readers in my Nockamixon Notes column.
